Mathematics Major at Elon University

Danielle is a 2020 Open Rivers Scholarship recipient is going into her freshman year at Elon University, where she plans to study mathematics. At Bethel High School, she was a member of the school’s Science National Honor Society chapter and the president of Mu Alpha Theta, the mathematics honor society.

Continuing her involvement in STEM projects and outreach on her new campus, Danielle plans to be involved in Elon’s Honors Fellows Program and the Elon Volunteers program as well as other clubs and activities. She hopes to continue to plan and organize events and projects that promote math and STEAM activities in schools and communities. Danielle is looking forward to beginning her classes and learning more practical applications of math as well as all the different careers that are math-based. In her free time, Danielle enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.

We recently had the chance to catch up with Danielle and chat about her plans for the school year and how she’s feeling about starting college in a pandemic. You can read the full article here: Conversations with our 2020 scholarship recipients or find it in the Open Rivers journal.
