Shefali V MEHTA
Shefali is an environmental and agricultural economist and statistician who has spent the past 10+ years working with organizations to tackle problems holistically.
Dr. Mehta founded Open Rivers to tailor the support to the individual needs of clients. Throughout her career, she has focused on collaborating across disciplines, industries and sectors to identify innovative and pragmatic solutions to complex issues. She has worked with clients across the ag and food value chain.
She received her PhD in Agricultural and Applied Economics and MS in Statistics from the University of Minnesota, MPhil in Economics from Cambridge University and a BA in Economics from New York University. Shefali serves or has served on various Boards including Bountifield, Pheasants Forever, the Minnesota Invasive Terrestrial Pests and Plant Center, and the School of Statistics at the University of Minnesota.
Ed Nessel came to Open Rivers because he believes in the vision of the company and that collaboration can often tackle problems that competition can not resolve. He received his BA in Management Information Systems from the University of Connecticut. His experience ranges broadly from golf to healthcare to the energy sector.

Jennifer Judd Hinrichs
Jennifer is a non-profit and coalition management consultant and facilitator with 20+ years of experience in the public and private sectors with a focus on urban forestry, human health & the environment, and youth. Jennifer uses a strong blend of pragmatism and creativity to empower leaders, staff and volunteers to build and maintain healthy and highly functioning organizations and networks. As founder of J.J. Hinrichs & Associates, she works with clients to ensure their internal capacity and external positioning work in tandem to help them meet and exceed their goals.
Prior to co-founding his consulting business, Ideas2Impact, Sam helped his nonprofit and for-profit clients develop growth strategies, manage complex change, develop their next generation of leaders, re-design their organizations, and improve the functionality of their teams through his work within McKinsey’s Organization Practice, Deloitte’s Human Capital Practice, and FMI’s Leadership and Organizational Development Practice.
Patti’s rich consulting and in-house background spans industries ranging from Automotive to Agriculture, Education to Nuclear Non-proliferation and functions from Strategy to Finance, HR to Operations. After successfully improving profitability through process optimization at Owens Corning, NAC International, and GE, Patti transitioned to strategic management consulting at McKinsey & Company. Patti is currently the president of BlüShift Strategy.
